A new pathway in Spain (Zaragoza)
Movimiento Atlas is happy to announce the beginning of two Certified programs in Spain: Somatic Movement Education (SME) in September 2017, and Infant Developmental Movement Education (IDME) in January 2018.
This association was founded by Patricia Gracia (BMC® Practitioner) and Rosa María Rodriguez (DMT) in 2010 following the desire to disseminate Movement Psychotherapy and Somatic Education through BMC® in Spain. Since then, courses and lectures introducing BMC® have been taught all over the country in educative, artistic, social and sanitary contexts.
After organizing of Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen’s visit to Madrid (Spain) in 2015, the foundations for a Spanish Program were laid and the work continued to develop with Walburga Glatz joining the team as the Program and Educational Director.
Movimiento Atlas has organized the schedule of the SME and IDME programs so that the study of both is compatible, and holds a strong compromise towards providing facilities for those students who commit to take an entire program or the combination of both.
The faculty will be chosen to provide expertise in the respective material as well as variation in teaching styles, and will include international Certified Teachers with experience in teaching and applying the work in various fields.
The learning environment will also be supported by a staff of assistants, as we are welcoming BMC® Practitioners as well as Somatic Movement Educators and Infant Developmental Movement Educators to assist and collaborate with us – for individual courses or optimally throughout the entire programs. Movimiento Atlas will be working closely with this staff of assistants to provide a sustained support for the group throughout the programs.
All the courses will be held both in English and Spanish with a consecutive translation to the corresponding language.
With this Programs, we hope we can contribute to enlarge and nourish the Community and Field of Somatic Education, bridging out across BMC® professionals, students from many different backgrounds and other disciplines. We look forward to share this path with you,
Walburga Glatz, Berlín (Program and Educational Director)
Patricia Gracia, Zaragoza (Administrative Director)
Jorge Ezquerra, Salamanca (Administrative Assistant and Transaltor)
We are proud to host the BMC® Programs in Zaragoza, a town that has been a capital of dance in Spain and that is nowadays working to regain that place through a number of innovative projects. The new Centro de Danza de Zaragoza, through the Dance Cartography program, is promoting educational and artistic projects led by local professionals, supporting and enhancing their reconnection with the community, bridging dance professionals and students, and opening a dialogue between the different institutions and fields they work on and represent. We are very pleased to be part of this program and we look forward to fully participate creating a dynamic network with the Centro de Danza de Zaragoza, and through it with the larger environment.
The Centro de Danza de Zaragoza provides unique facilities for a full immersion in the work. Placed in the beautiful historical quarters Cuartel Palafox, the building includes large professional dance studios with daylight, located just 5 min. walk from the largest park in town and few min. from the town centre.
Following registration, we will be able to provide a list of economic accommodation options very near the Centro de Danza.
Zaragoza is located between Madrid and Barcelona. The fast train AVE allows you to travel from both cities in a little more than an hour. This train can be expensive if is not booked in advance.
